My daughter, turned six earlier this year and close to two months later, we managed to celebrate it Peppa Pig style!

If you haven’t heard of Peppa Pig, she is a rather unusual looking (well, I think her look is unusual) pig who lives with Mummy Pig, Daddy Pig and her little brother George. She is Amelia’s current obsession and it seems that she is not alone. After doing some ‘research’ on Peppa Pig, I discovered that there is a Peppa Pig World – a whole theme park in the UK based around Peppa and her family! So Peppa Pig, it was!

We decided to make it a Peppa Pig inspired garden tea party. Jordan from Polkadot Prints (read more about Jordan here) designed the invitations for me using the illustration style that you see on the Peppa Pig shows. I also wanted Peppa’s favourite phrase, “Jumping up and down in muddy puddles” to feature throughout the party so we included a pair of pink gumboots and mud.

We carried across this cartoon look across to the dessert table by using a ‘happy, sunny day’ kinda backdrop and of course, our little friend Peppa appeared on the chocolate mud (of course!) cake which was created by Sweet Bloom Cakes.

To replicate the look of the invitation, I created an apple tree. I attempted the cookies myself using the rolled sugar cookie recipe from Glorious Treats which you’ll find here. They were fairly simple and were yummy. (P.S. If you are looking for a chocolate cookie recipe, try theirs. It’s so good!)

Here are a few apples that have been picked off the tree and some that Peppa and her little brother George have sneakily eaten!

We can’t forget the gumboots for jumping up and down in muddy puddles! These gorgeous gumboot cake pops were made by Nicole at Posh Cakes.

Hope you’ve enjoyed this sneak peek of the dessert table. All will be revealed in part 2!
